Appointments
Appointment System
To book a same-day appointment please phone the surgery from 08:00. Once the appointments for that day have been fully booked we will have to ask you to call again the next day. Routine appointments can be pre-booked up to 4 weeks in advance. These are generally afternoon session.
Telephone consultations can be booked up to 6 weeks in advance. Follow up face to face appointments will be arranged by the doctor if necessary.
We do appreciate that sometimes you will require an urgent appointment that cannot wait until the morning. On these occasions the receptionist will ask your details, including a brief description of what the problem is, and you will be triaged on the day by the duty doctor. We know it is not always possible, but please try to call for urgent care before 10:00. This gives the doctor plenty of time to call and deal with your request.
Urgent requests will only be considered for medical problems, no sick notes or repeat prescriptions will be issued. If you have run out of your medication please tell the receptionist and we will try to get your prescription done for you.
Nurse Practitioner Appointments
Where appropriate a doctor may book you an appointment with our nurse practitioner, usually following an urgent request made that day.
Nurse Appointments
All nurses appointments (morning and afternoons) are pre-bookable.
Home Visits
Patients who require home visits should make such a request before 10:30 by phoning 029 20887316. If, however, there is a degree of urgency, please make this clear to the receptionist.
House calls are for emergencies and for patients whose illness prevents them attending the surgery. They will NOT be made for routine conditions which could be seen in surgery.
Cancelling or changing an appointment
Unfortunately, we have a high number of patients who do not attend appointments they have booked. This puts a lot of strain on our ability to offer flexible appointments for others.
We have developed a policy to help minimise the number of missed appointments. If you fail to attend appointments without informing us, we will write to you asking if there are any specific problems preventing you from letting us know. If you repeatedly fail to attend appointments, you may be removed from the practice list and must find an alternative GP practice.
You can complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.
